Walters Wedding Fall 2017

The Walters Suite features a fall mid century modern inspired wedding nestled in the forest of Grand Rapids, Michigan. This custom design included a unique logo for the couple to use on stationery and throughout their special day. The Wedding Suite was comprised of a design for the primary logo, save the date, invitation, details card, RSVP card, and day of event stationery/signage.

The Concept

The couple requested a visual identity that would be paired with their invitation suite that could be used throughout the event in a number of ways including but not limited to stationery, signage and cake toppers. We drew much of our inspiration for the mark from mid century modern graphics and styles. I used simple shapes and floral elements commonly found in mid century modern design to create the logo which lent itself well to creating an entire alphabet that we later used for the RSVP card. The full alphabet can be found at the bottom of this project.

Type & Color

The logomark S&K was custom made for this project and was paired primarily with Avenir. I wanted a clean, modern and simple typeface that would read clearly on invitations and not compete with the logo. We used Archer as an accent font to infuse more character in the stationery suite on items that did not utilize the custom lettering. The color palette is inspired by fall colors to correspond with the season the wedding was taking place, however, the tones we selected are also reminiscent of mid century modern palettes, which was a theme we wanted to carry throughout this suite.
